At Worlds End

When the time comes for nature to reclaim the land, what will your story be. Will it be one of great accomplishments or will it be one filled with regrets and sorrow? Will your story be told by others or will it be forgotten like a whisper told to the wind? Will you be the one to live on at the worlds end, or will you become a distant memory? We decide the direction will take and how our lives will be seen at the end of our time. For some they make the most of their lives, while others take each day as they come never knowing and never expecting. At worlds end though, we find ourselves re-evaluating, questioning, and wishing we had done more.

The Country Girl

My grandma use to say “Born a country girl, always a country girl.” I never really knew what she meant growing up and found it funny that she would make this comment every time she came over and found me sitting outside playing. As time past we eventually moved away from the farm and the country into a little community. Now that I find myself living in a large city and the constant noise of something in the back ground and sirens off in the distance, I find myself thinking back to her little statement often… longing to be back in the quiet country.

Single White Tree

In the garden near my home, grew the single white tree. It is not like the other trees that I see, mostly greens and bright oranges surrounding the small sandy area. The single white tree stands tall and proud, not covered in snow but wearing a permanent coat of white. Use to only seeing trees so white after a long winters storm, the single white tree became the pride and joy of the people in the area. A small pavilion was constructed where many came to sit and watch the single white tree and the small birds dance in the fountain.

The Night Changes You

I cannot put my finger on it, nor can I completely explain it, but in some way the night changes you. Perhaps it is best explained as Bruce Wayne and Batman. By day Mr Wayne is exception business man, focused on his company and growing his business. By night he is the Batman, set on riding the streets of crime and making his city great again. Like Mr Wayne, I to have present differently during the day then I do during the night. During the night, I share a little wild side. One that often stays hidden and out of sight. One that longs to make its appearance more often, yet she remains locked away from the world; except on rare occasions.

There are times when we break out of our shells, take risks, and make bold changes. We deviate from our norm and embrace something new. We are met with mixed reviews, some like the bold new look while others voice their dislike. While we ourselves embrace our bold choice and relish in the comments and the looks, those who dislike the changes take every chance they can to point out why we should not have made them. To the nay sayers I remind you that we all go a bit rogue at times and swim against the current rather than with it.

Country Station

The first of the morning light kissed the top of the trees, spewing a welcoming warm glow across all it reached. I stood outside the country train station impatiently waiting for its arrival. Off in the distance, the low rumble of the engine and the clickity clack of tracks could be heard drawing closer. Slowly it came to a halt filling the morning air with a warm cloud of steam. Yet there I stood outside the country train station, not moving…. was the city life something I really longed for, or was the quiet country life more my style? Before I knew it, the train was whirling once more as slowly moved forward disembarking the small country train station… with me standing there watching it move on to the next station.

A simple phrase made up of three words, change one word and the meaning changes drastically. We say this phrase each and every day of our lives to friends and family members, especially to those we care deeply about. Then suddenly within a blink of an eye, we find ourselves change just one word. We turn from those we once used the first phrase on, we shun them; discard them as if they never existed in our world before. We love them one day and without warning we hate them. Often we leave them unaware of what happened, while other times we let them in on the secret. How do we go from loving someone unconditionally with every fiber of our beings to hating them. After spending hours explaining that they had the wrong person, she was ready to admit defeat and go with what they wanted. Several individuals had come in and asked numerous questions pertaining to an incident she knew nothing about. She had explained everything to them, how she had ended up where they had found her and what she had been doing. She told them who to speak with if they did not believe her. She was at the point of breaking down just to end all the questions and accusatory glances. Suddenly the door flew open and the tall man motioned her towards the door. She was aloud to leave finally. Walking out the back door into the parking lot, she stood beneath the yellow glow from the hanging light above and took in the night air.

Enjoying the Vinyl

Music soothes the soul; stirs up emotions of happiness and sorrow. Music comes in all genres and if you are willing to each has a different feel that enriches your soul. Music is played wherever we go in life; on the radio, in stores, and is part of everything we watch. Over time music has changed shape as well from vinyl records to digital files downloaded by the masses. One thing never changes though, how music makes us feel, how it draws us together, and how it makes us move. Right now I am enjoying the vinyl, tomorrow maybe an eight track or perhaps a digital download of a current release.

Lost in the Woods

By now the party was in full swing; the room filled with well dressed party-goers. Everyone knew each other and chatted idly amongst each others as waiters walked through the see of people offering delicious pieces to eat or random drinks to enjoy. I had slipped out well before the crowd became to unbearable. I wandered the grounds, enjoying the warm yet cool air as it ruffled my dress bottom. I forgot which way I was going and strolled off the path so carefully manicured. Before me stood a run down house. I ventured inside the building and found a quiet place amongst the wild growth as it reclaimed the location; it was here that I realized I was lost in the woods, far from the party and no idea where I had wandered off to.
